About Ole & Steen Lagkagehuset

Founded in 1991 by bakers Ole Kristoffersen and Steen Skallebaek and originally called Lagkagehuset or "layer cake house," Ole & Steen is a pioneer in the resurgence of artisan and handcrafted baking practices in Denmark. In the US, Ole & Steen has introduced New Yorkers to their modern takes on traditional Danish pastries, while welcoming guests with a sense of Danish hygge and hospitality.  We still do things the old way - expert bakers working all night and all day to ensure that each guest has the best handmade bread, pastry, sandwich, or cake any time of the day.
